Swollen belly in newborns: the best massage techniques
Have you ever noticed that your baby has a swollen and tense belly ? Does the newborn seem restless, cry often and manifest intestinal problems?
Unfortunately, although many newborns struggle to relieve themselves, cry desperately, produce a lot of gas and have a tense abdomen, most of the time parents are told that colic is normal and physiological , and that it will pass on its own with time.
The truth is quite different: it is NOT normal for your baby to cry, suffer and feel bad because he has a stomach ache, has difficulty breathing and a swollen abdomen.
Infant gas colic, like gastroesophageal reflux , is caused by an irritant and inflammatory condition of the intestine (see recent scientific study reported below) that can be PREVENTED (from pregnancy or the first days of life) and/or CURED in the first months of life.
In this article I will explain the real causes why your baby has air in his tummy and how to solve the problem.
Also, in this article I decided to explain to you some massages to help your baby expel air and feel relief.

Swollen belly in newborns: introduction
There are many newborns who suffer from gastrointestinal problems and a swollen belly in the first months of life.
In fact, according to statistics, approximately 30% of newborns show at least one type in the first months of life.
This is not a situation to ignore because the child may suffer from severe abdominal pain and be unable to poop , making the stomach ache worse.
The first months of a newborn's life are a unique period of development ; if the baby cries and is sick, it is difficult for parents to establish a relationship and play with the child.
This is why your newborn shouldn't be left to suffer from a swollen belly.
What causes a bloated belly?
Years ago it was believed that gastrointestinal problems were due to the presence of an immature intestine in the newborn. Unfortunately, there are still those who are convinced of this today.
A 2018 scientific study published by the Gastroenterology Clinics of North America (see image below) has demonstrated that colic and bloating in newborns are due to an inflammatory intestinal condition .
As such, this is why the baby's belly is swollen, the abdomen is tense and painful; just like when you have an inflamed and swollen ankle.
