High blood pressure during pregnancy: the classification
When we talk about high blood pressure during pregnancy - hypertension - we are referring to a situation that can be classified as follows:
Chronic hypertension : in these cases, we are dealing with a condition characterized by abnormal blood pressure values even before pregnancy;
pregnancy hypertension : in this case, however, we are talking about an abnormal increase in blood pressure after the 20th week of pregnancy (generally, high blood pressure during pregnancy becomes apparent around the 37th week). The picture just described tends to resolve itself within 6 weeks of giving birth.
